The DK Preseason Pitching Program with former collegiate and current professional pitcher Chas Cywin is designed to prepare pitchers for the rigors of the spring baseball season. The program begins with a hypertrophy stage focused on building muscle mass, followed by a strength and power phase to optimize performance. This foundational work establishes a strong base for the upcoming season and is performed in the strength training area of the world renowned Parisi Speed School Bristol.
As the season approaches, the program shifts its focus to arm health and acclimatization. Pitchers who have been resting during the offseason are gradually reintroduced to throwing activities. This gradual progression helps prevent injuries and ensures a smooth transition back to full pitching workload. Drills and exercises are specifically designed to target arm health and improve mechanics.
The final stage of the program prepares pitchers for mound work and builds their workload towards a target of 45-50 pitches. This gradual increase in intensity allows pitchers to develop strength, stamina, and refine their control before preseason practice begins. By following this structured program, pitchers can enter the season physically and mentally prepared to perform at their best.
The High School Program builds upon the foundation established in earlier stages, focusing on refining existing mechanics and making biomechanical adjustments to optimize pitch execution and increase velocity. By analyzing individual mechanics and identifying areas for improvement, the program helps pitchers develop efficient and powerful deliveries. The HS program highlights the importance of core strength and rotational power in generating velocity, both of which are emphasized in the program.
The Middle School Program emphasizes the fundamental understanding of proper pitching mechanics. By focusing on biomechanical efficiency, the program aims to develop clean, repeatable movements that will optimize performance and minimize injury risk.
Pitchers will learn and refine two primary pitching deliveries: a 5-step wind-up and a 3-step stretch. They will also master the 4-seam and 2-seam fastballs, while developing a potent changeup. The primary goal is to enhance relative body strength and instill healthy, repeatable mechanics that will translate seamlessly to the mound.
DK Pitching Camps focus on DK’s ability to deliver the finest instruction possible and the sports performance techniques that have made Parisi Speed School the nation's leader in sports performance since 1991.
Pitcher's will begin to develop proper, systematic throwing and pitching mechanics that they'll be able to take with them on the field and develop poise, control and confidence on the mound.
